I don't like Masks and Don't ask ME to buy you a LOTTO ticket...

Aren't they just the cutest little poodle skirt girl and fairy you have ever seen? They are one month apart and we just happened to find them while trick or treating so I could grab some pictures. Now, these are CUTE costumes and you get to see their cute little faces.

Now, this picture of my son and daughter however, is why I am not a fan of masks. You can't even tell it is him. He could be sticking his tongue out for all I know!!! They had a ball and Jaise is just learning what all of the candy is about and really got into it this year. I guess that is all that matters.

Now, why should you not let me buy you a lotto ticket? I have got to be the most unluckiest person out there. You know about the nearly 1500 giveaways posted at Bloggy Giveaways last week right? Yeah, well, my computer is only so fast and I entered over 500 of these giveaways and did not win ONE single thing!!!!!!!! How can a person be so unlucky? First on my list to enter were all of the "New Blog Design" giveaways because we all know I need one desperately but nothing, nada.

I Never Said I was Martha Stewart...

So, every year when I was growing up, we made cut out sugar cookies on Halloween and Christmas. It is a recipe from my grandma and they are soooo yummy. They are easy to make and the kids love to help decorate (hence the glob of orange sprinkles). Here is the recipe:
1/2 c. shortening (1/2 butter)
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1T. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
just a touch of lemon extract
You really need to mix this up and let it chill over night for it to roll out good for you. Then flour your working surface, roll out, cut into shapes and bake at 425 degrees for 5-7 minutes. Oh and a single batch is NEVER enough for our house so we ALWAYS triple this recipe. It would also depend on how big your cookie cutters are.
We made pumpkins and bats for my 7year olds class and added them to the "witch" treat bags that had Halloween pencils, erasers, Dracula teeth and spider rings in them. So, off to the party we go, then hopefully a nap before trick or treating tonight!!!

Funny what kids will say

So, it was a few days before I was to go in to have my surgery and I was talking to my 7 year old about it. Now, to give you a little background......I still have some "baby" weight hanging on. Granted, the baby is now 2 1/2 but it's my story so leave me alone!!!! Anyway, I am not obese but I have a few pounds that I am trying to lose and have lost 20 in the past 3 months....woohooo!!!! But, it's not like I'm wearing "mom" jeans or anything!!!! So, I say to Jake that mommy is going to go into the hospital for a couple of days just so they can take something out of mommy's belly and then when I come home, I am going to be pretty tired and sore so I am going to need your help for a little while lifting things, etc.

He looks at me with his nose wrinkled up and says "They aren't taking another baby out of your belly again are they?" WHAT?!!!! I DO NOT look like I am ready to deliver a baby any day!!!!! He is lucky that I gave birth to him and love him unconditionally or else he would be sleeping with the dog!!!
