Aloha Friday

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

With the economy the way it is, everyone is trying to adjust their budget, whether making more money or cutting expenses. I have been taking advantage of ebay and selling my kids outgrown clothes and toys on there. It's kind of like a garage sale all year round. The bigger items are harder to sell on there because of shipping so I have been trying to sell my daughters crib/toddler bed on Craig's List. Craig's List is free to list and it lists them in your area. We have also lowered the temperature in our house. We all HATE to be cold, but this year I am telling them all to put on a sweatshirt and snuggle up with a blanket. We are also cooking at home nearly 100%. You can make your $1 stretch farther this way. I really wish I were crafty enough to have an etsy store. I love things homemade but let's face it, Martha Stewart, I am not!!!!
So, today's question is how are you stretching your budget/ supplementing your income?

I've become a crazy coupon lady! But I'm really amazed at the amount of money I can save by smart shopping and I enjoy it!

I have really gotten into planning out meals, cutting coupons and eating home. We also keep the heat set at 62 and only go up for kid baths. Sure it is quite cold, but we can layer clothing and the pipes should be fine at that temperature.

I'm supplementing through blogging and taking surveys. See my site. Crazy stuff going on. I'm also trying to win a lot of Christmas gifts. I have won a felt board, a free turkey, a klutz book, 10.00 at Burger King, a pair of shoes for my daughter. So much going on.

We have cut back on our non-necessity type trips. ie... not as many dinners out & we don't go to the "big" city as often.

I changed my work schedule so I could cut out the very expensive day care and that has made a huge difference. I even took a pay cut and I am coming out ahead.

I work part-time and have taken to doing surveys and focus groups when I'm lucky enough to get in them for extra cash.

Coupons, we've stopped eating out, stopped using the dryer, lower the temp on the thermostat, and doing all errands in one day (when possible)

i did take on a part time job but the reasoning for that was to help with college finances since we now have 2 in college.
