Fall Fun

We have been busy having some fall fun.

Here we are making caramel apples. I have never done this before and know it will become a family tradition every year now. Sticky mess and all, Jaise had a ball!! I think she still looks cute, even with her jacked up hair that she cut a few weeks ago!

Here is Jaise playing in the leaves. Jake was too busy climbing a tree to be involved with throwing leaves in the air, but she had a ball!!!

And here she is with my sister (the trendy, skinny one)....well, really the only sister I have. We were at Jake's Football game and Jaise is obsessed with sunglasses and shoes and having her picture taken. I know, she looks hot in these sunglasses. These are actually her "ok" glasses. She has pink ones that open up to the side and are quite frankly a little freaky.

I promise to post some deals tomorrow for you to keep in mind for next week.

Aloha Friday

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
If you’d like to participate, just post your own question on your blog and leave your link below. Don’t forget to visit the other participants! It’s a great way to make new bloggy friends!

Today’s question is:
Do you have a favorite workout song? If so, let me know so I can add it to my IPOD.
Check out An Island Life for more Aloha Friday questions.

Hot for the Holidays Update and some Healthy Snacks

I talked about my experience in doing 5 miles all at ONE time last Sunday. I'm not sure if that helped me or hurt me since I couldn't move the next two days without feeling like I was 97!!! Anyway, I scaled it down a bit and did 1 mile on Wednesday and 2 miles on Thursday. I am more and more conscience of the foods I am eating. I have to hand it to McDonald's, whoever thought up the Happy Meal Idea was brilliant in the field of Marketing. I have mentioned that my sons new thing is Hot Wheels and guess what the toy is in the meal? Yep, Hot Wheels. So, after he was very patient helping me run errands the other day I stopped for him and instead of ordering a snack wrap or chicken sandwich...I ordered a parfait!!! It was really yummy......I have never had one before.
So, that is one of my new healthy snacks to share with all of you. Vanilla yogurt layered with fruit.........not brilliant or new, but yummy and healthy. My other healthy snack to share with you is a Tortilla Wrap: One tortilla with a thin layer of garden vegetable, chives, any kind of cream cheese you want, then a slice of turkey (any lunch meat you want), lettuce and roll it up. You can even pop these in the fridge for those times when you are STARVING and they are already made for you.
Ok, Christie wanted us to share with you our favorite and not so favorite part of our body. It was pretty easy on my not so favorite part of my body.....the baby bump but, without the baby. Yes, the bump is still there. I need the "muffin top" to go away when I wear my jeans!!! My favorite part of my body are my hands.
And now for the weigh in........I lost 1.2 lbs. this week. I'm taking it since it is not a gain and it is just reinforcing what we all know......eating healthier and exercising is the way to go.
You can read about more HFH updates at Baby Tea Leaves.

Heads Up...

Walgreens has a $5 off $25 purchase for Oct. 17th and the 18th. This is good instore and online and you can get it here.
Kohl's has stationary kits of Hello Kitty, Hannah Montana, My Little Pony, Tinkerbell, etc. on clearance for $4.99. They also have Hot Wheels/Matchbox items on sale for 45% off. Many, if not all of the Halloween decorations were 60% off. Seriously, if you ever pay full price at Kohl's, you are crazy!!!!
Meijer has Bratz dolls on clearance for $3.99 and Video Nows that were $34.99 are now $13.99!!!! These were all found in the toy clearance section.

My New Favorite.....

I guess it's time for me to admit to all of you that I am a lip product junkie. I think that the obsessive nature regarding my lip products has increased since I took the plunge and did the Victoria Beckham bob (yes, the one that everyone has)....I didn't say I was unique ( I just like certain things). Since I can't exactly use my hot rollers or "fluff" in too many places, I find myself wearing earrings more consistently and needing to not leave the house with out a lip gloss in hand/purse/car, etc. Well, this is my new favorite one. I love the "cute" unique packaging. You unscrew the top and there is an applicator that you pull out to apply the gloss. I am not sure how many different ones there are as mine was a gift.

Cool Giveaway

Check out Rachel at Following in My Shoes for her first giveaway. They are the most comfortable tees and there is a second prize too!!!!! You can't win if you don't enter!!

Savings Headed Your Way

We were at Michael's last night and found some steals of deals!!!! This guy is about 5 ft tall complete with pole for standing up and was only $5.99!!! All of their Halloween/Fall decorations were on sale AND clearanced out. They had cute little 2ft. scarecrows for $2.99, "welcome" fall signs for $3.99 and a ton of $1 items.
Also, Kohl's is starting their "Buy $50 and receive $10 in Kohl's Cash" sale this week. The number one rule for shopping at Kohl's is to NEVER purchase anything that is not on sale. I swear they have a sale go up every other hour. Also, if you purchase online they have free shipping on orders that are $75 or more from Oct. 15-21st. I have received flyers from Kohl's regarding all of their sales throughout the years, but the other day they called me on the phone to tell me about the 50/10 sale. I think this is a sign that they are preparing for a slow year. Maybe they will cut prices even deeper to entice people to buy.

IronMan and V-tech Deals

$4.99 Ironman movie. CVS had all DVDs 40% off so Ironman was $14.99. If you have a coupon from the P&G promotion 2 weeks ago that printed out for $10 off Ironman, you could get the movie for $4.99. I really wish there was a CVS close to me!!
V-tech Gaming system is featured as the deal of the day here for $19.99; regularly $99.99. Select games are also marked down to $4.99.
Could make some great Christmas gifts.

10,000 Steps a Day

Do you know about 10,000 steps a day? Well, if you have one of those pedometers (found easily and cheaply at walmart, meijer, etc) , you click that baby on your waist band and it will record how many steps you take throughout the day. "They" say that 10,000 is a good number to strive for when trying to lose/maintain weight. 10,000 steps is equivalent to 5 miles.
So, you know that I am participating in Hot for the Holidays Challenge over at Baby Tea Leaves. Guess what? I did 10,000 steps on my elliptical machine at one time!!!!!!!! Now, if you know me, you know that you won't find my name, exercise and 5 miles in the same sentence....EVER!!!!! Are my feet numb? Yep. Are my hip joints rubbing on bone? yep. Am I sore already? yep. But, I did it!!!!!!!!! I am not going to lie and say it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It was fine until about 6,000 steps, 8,000 was a little more uncomfortable and the last 2000 steps SUCKED.....but, I DID IT!!!!!! My mp3 got me through with my eclectic array of "boogie" songs. I can say the pain was worth it. I am into the next decade of numbers and I do NOT want to go back. Once you start losing, even only a pound or so, it seems to make eating healthier and/or smaller portions easier.
Ok, I must go now to take some motrin!!!!

Some Deals to look for this week

Rite Aid has TWO pages filled with FREE health care items/medicine, etc. You purchase the products and then they send you a check for the full price!!!! The only thing better than free is profit and if you have any coupons for the items, you could make a profit. They also still have the New or Transferred Rx gift card for $30. You need the coupon from the flyer or print it from my sidebar (coupons.com).
Target also has a Rx gift card, however, theirs is only $10. You can also call your Walgreen's. Many people have said that they have a $25 Rx gift card, but you have to ask the pharmacy for the promotion. It's worth a shot.

Great Gift Idea

Below are a few examples of photos that I have taken over the years. I can take any photo you have and turn it to black and white and leave a certain item in color. Contact me for pricing information if you are interested. If you live close enough, I can do a photo shoot for you with all of your photos on a cd for YOU to develop!!!
